Each year we honor students for achievements and academic ability at the annual O’Connell Awards.

The categories of awards include:

• Dean’s Award: High grades & outstanding leadership/service to department or college
• Outstanding Majors: High grades & outstanding leadership/service to NIU/community
• Forensics Awards: High grades & outstanding leadership/service in forensics
• Scholarly Achievement Awards: For outstanding classroom performance
• Service Awards: Significant contributions to the department, university or community
• Research Awards: Evidence of innovative independent or collaborative research
• Creative Achievement Awards: Innovative independent or collaborative creative work
