Belonging and Community

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is committed to creating an inclusive educational community of faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and with varied perspectives, interests, and goals. We have a responsibility to reflect the multiplicity of the world, promoting intellectual inquiry and other activities essential to a democratic society.

Education is life-changing. We are committed to ensuring all Huskies have access and opportunities to be their authentic selves and be part of everything NIU has to offer. To do that, we continue to work on closing achievement and equity gaps, and supporting three priority areas: first generation students, international students and faculty and Latinx community members.

Everyone is welcome here, and we value all that you bring to our departments, college, and university.
