Competitions and Conferences
NIU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is dedicated to showcasing the advancements and achievements of its students. Regular conferences and competitions such as the Undergraduate Research and Artistry Day, STEM Fest, and the Graduate Student Research Association Conference allow students to present their research in a public setting. Other conferences and competitions include:

- South East Asia Student Conference
- MCLLM (Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language and Media)
- Cambodian Studies Conference
- Student Leadership Conference
- Undergraduate Mathematics Contest
