Internships are available to students enrolled in the MPA program. Students who have fewer than two years of professional public sector experience must complete an internship as part of the MPA program. If you are interested in public service but don’t yet have experience, our internship program is designed for you.

- Meet the coordinator – schedule an advising session to discuss your goals
- Apply to the NIU Graduate School as a student at large
- Prepare for and attend our Internship Placement Event
- Start classes and your internship
Each year our department pairs interested local governments, and nonprofit organizations with young leaders like yourself. NIU’s Master in Public Administration will prepare you to make a difference from day 1.
