Don Weiss

Don Weiss began his involvement in the community of Addison, Illinois in 1982 when Addison’s local cable programming went on the air. In 1984, Don was hired by the Village of Addison as its first Cable Television Coordinator, developing Addison’s government access cable programming to include live coverage of the village board meetings. Today, five government agencies broadcast their board meetings to residents of Addison.

Don received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Television from Columbia College Chicago in 1986. In 1987 as the Director of Cable Television Services he worked to design and equip a television production facility in the Addison Village Hall, available for public, educational and government access programming, funded by the local cable operator. In 1989, Don was appointed as Community Relations Director and began developing marketing and community engagement projects in Addison to include special events, online communications, intergovernmental relations and promotion of Addison’s historical museum campus. In 2007 Don was elected as a Carol Stream village trustee and served two terms. While a trustee, Don worked to bring the “Shape of Carol Stream” town hall meeting to the community, connecting residents with their local governmental leaders.

Don teaches PSPA 600 Scope and Dynamics of Public Administration and PSPA 632 Local Government Administration.
