In the Department of Biological Sciences, you'll experience many opportunities for getting involved with other students and faculty during your time at NIU.

Undergraduates can sign up to do research in faculty research laboratories, where you'll be mentored by faculty and learn from other undergraduate and graduate student researchers. You'll have ample opportunities to present your research, either in poster or oral presentations, both on and off campus. Our facilities include many laboratories with advanced equipment to make your research easier.

We also have several clubs and groups you may want to join, where you'll be able to learn and associate with other students who share the same research interests as you.

We'll support you along the way by offering internship opportunities and career preparation, as well as several scholarships and awards. Make the most of your college days by taking advantage of the many opportunities for enhancement and engagement in the department!
