My research focuses on the sociology of health and illness; science, technology and medicine studies and the sociology of the body or body studies, specifically the modernization of amputation; historical and contemporary constructions of phantom limb syndrome; prosthetic technologies; the sociology of pain; contemporary theories of embodiment; qualitative research methods; gender/women’s studies and critical race studies.
